Friends of America’s Freedom Center:
Thank you for your continued interest in America’s Freedom Center Foundation, Inc. (AFCF) and its efforts to build America’s Freedom Center. We appreciate all of the support we have received from the community for this project, and we want to update you on a new development with the organization.
As you know, we have explored several possible locations for America’s Freedom Center; including the land north of the Milwaukee County War Memorial and the historic grounds of the Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center. We believed the VA grounds would have been an ideal location for the Center. The City of Milwaukee’s proposal for the VA grounds included America’s Freedom Center as the anchor for their project. That plan has been withdrawn. We are now looking into the lease and restoration of the Ward Memorial Theater on our own as Phase I of our plan. However, we feel it is prudent to explore other locations as well. AFCF is strongly dedicated to building America’s Freedom Center and will continue to explore potential building sites.
While our mission and vision remain unchanged, we will be transitioning to an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff and we will continue to maintain our office at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center. AFCF will continue to focus on educating students about America’s role in world freedom, service to our country and remembrance of our past and the heroes who left a legacy of freedom and democracy. The message of freedom is an important one, and we are proud to be able to continue sharing it with the community.
Thank you again for your interest and support of America’s Freedom Center Foundation. If you have any questions about this transition or if you are interested in having a speaker at your school or organization, please contact us at (414) 727-2744. Sincerely,
BG (Ret.) Robert A. Cocroft, Chairman AFCF Board of Trustees
